There are some
really, good illustrations in this book – see below, an anxious Domus watching
his sister, Dilly, heading to the Big House.
As any author
will tell you, it is quite a moment when you see an illustration of the
characters you have been writing about for 2years! Yes, 2years (writing,
altering and editing). Although for this story, I had to wait for foxgloves to
flower again in order to check which way bees buzz in and out of the flowers –
Top to bottom or Bottom to top – Very, important for the Foxglove Event and
start of the Summer Sports!!
Noticing
nature through the seasons is sometimes lost in our busy lives. I hope you
readers and young listeners can enjoy this story and if you didn’t have a go at
growing flowers or vegetables during last year’s spring lockdown – have a go in
2021. Everything in ‘Domus and Friends’ is easy to grow.
It may be
January and cold outdoors but, try sowing some sweet peas seeds in your home,
in any container, putting them outside when it is warmer.
Get ahead.
They’ll flower early and the bees will love them……
